Easter Message through the mouth of David
Worship led by Tali
Message by Brother Edward
The sermon centers on Psalm 16:8–11, a prophetic text written by King David approximately one thousand years before the life of Christ. The preacher argues that while David spoke in the first person, he was speaking through the Holy Spirit as the voice of the resurrected Jesus. The core of the text focuses on the “Four Declarations” of faith:
Presence: Setting the Lord always before one’s eyes.
Stability: Being unshakable because God is at one’s right hand.
Joy: Finding fullness of joy and eternal pleasure in God’s presence.
Victory: The assurance that the soul will not be abandoned to the grave nor see decay.
Brother Edward challenges the congregation to move beyond a “historical” or “book-based” Jesus and embrace a Living Jesus who is active today.
- Daily Declaration: Members are urged to confess these four points daily to combat life’s pressures and “job burdens” that erode spiritual joy.
- The “Win-Win” Perspective: Using a logic similar to Pascal’s Wager, the congregation is encouraged to live a pure, joyful life of faith; if heaven exists, they gain everything; if not, they have still lived a superior, more comforted life than the alternative.
- Overcoming Fear: The congregation is called to reject the “mourning” spirit (symbolized by the story of Martin Luther’s wife dressing in black) and instead live in the reality of the resurrection.
Psalm 16:8-11(New King James Version)
8 I have set the Lord always before me;
Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.
9 Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices;
My flesh also will [a]rest in hope.
10 For You will not leave my soul in [b]Sheol,
Nor will You allow Your Holy One to [c]see corruption.
11 You will show me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
