The sermon centers on Acts 8:26-40, the account of Philip and the Ethiopian eunuch on the desert road from Jerusalem to Gaza. Brother Tom highlights the eunuch’s journey—traveling a vast distance to worship, only to be potentially excluded from the temple due to the restrictions in Deuteronomy 23:1. Despite this rejection, the eunuch remained “on the road,” reading the prophet Isaiah. Brother Tom connects this to other “water in the wilderness” moments in Scripture:

• Hagar: God providing a well when she and her child were near death.
• Israel: Moses striking the rock to provide water for the complaining multitude.
• The Cross: The ultimate source of “water,” referencing John 19 where blood and water flowed from the side of Jesus.

Brother Tom issues a call to “stay on the road” regardless of personal wilderness experiences—be they financial, relational, or spiritual disappointments.

• Persistence in Seeking: Do not give up on God if the “religious system” or a specific experience fails you. Like the eunuch, continue looking for the next sign (Scripture, a brother, or creation).
• Recognize the Chariot: For those in a “Philip” season (moving from high-profile success to quiet service), be alert to the “one chariot” God sends and “run to it” with seriousness.
• Drink Freely: The “water” (the Holy Spirit and God’s grace) is flowing 24/7 from the finished work of Christ. The congregation is urged to “open their mouths,” confess their sins to keep the “cup clean,” and enjoy the refreshing presence of God in every mundane moment, from traffic jams to the workplace.
