Today we will talk about how to bring peace and try and keep the unity with others.
9. How we should cooperate with the Holy Spirit when he works within us he brings us together.
The sermon focuses on Ephesians 4:3: “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” This is presented as the ninth installment in a series regarding the believer’s relationship with the Holy Spirit. The preacher emphasizes that the Holy Spirit is a spirit of unity. Because the Spirit is one, His presence in believers must naturally result in their being joined together.
Brother Edward utilizes several metaphors to illustrate this necessary unity:
- The Body and the Head: Just as a head cannot function or live without the body, Christ (the Head) and the Church (the Body) are inseparable.
- The Groom and the Bride: A wedding cannot exist without a bride: similarly, one cannot claim a relationship with the Groom (Jesus) while rejecting the Bride (the Church).
- The Shepherd and the Flock: A shepherd requires a flock, and sheep cannot survive without their shepherd.
Congregation response
The congregation is challenged to move beyond “likeness” and strive for “unity.” Brother Edward clarifies that unity does not mean being identical: differences in temperament, background, and function are necessary for the body to complete itself.
Action Points:
- Acceptance: Receive others exactly as they are, just as Christ accepted us without prior conditions (Romans 15:7).
- Respect: Value others above yourself and respect their ideas, even when you disagree (Romans 12:10).
- Service: Look for ways to serve those you feel distant from. Like a hand instinctively comforting a stubbed toe, members must care for the hurting parts of the church.
- Patience: Bear with the weaknesses of others, remembering how much God has endured from us.
- Prayer: If you struggle to love someone, pray for them daily for six months. The preacher testifies that this practice transforms the heart of the one praying.
- Homework: Search the New Testament to find every instance of the phrase “one another” to understand the biblical standard for communal behaviour.

- Համբերություն. Համբերատար եղեք ուրիշների տկարությունների հանդեպ:
- Աղոթք. Եթե դժվարանում եք որևէ մեկին սիրել, վեց ամիս ամեն օր աղոթեք նրա համար:
