Our guest speaker this week is the Very Reverend Vahan Hovhanessian who shares a message based on Corinthians.

 The sermon centers on 1 Corinthians 1, where the Apostle Paul addresses the church in Corinth regarding their internal divisions. Brother Vahan highlights that despite being a “born again” Christian community committed to the Gospel, the congregation had fractured into factions following different leaders: Paul, Apollos, and Peter (Cephas).

Key Points:

• The Root of Division: Brother Vahan identifies “tunnel vision” as the primary cause. Each group believed they held the exclusive truth and refused to listen to or value the perspectives of others.
• The Womb Analogy: Using a story of twins in a womb, Brother Vahan illustrates the difference between those who fear the unknown (the boy who thinks life ends at birth) and those who embrace God’s greater plan (the girl who sees birth as the beginning of real life). Those who trap themselves in narrow factions are like the boy, unable to see the vast world God has prepared beyond their immediate surroundings.
• Biblical Necessity of Rebirth: Referencing John 3:3, Brother Vahan emphasizes that being “born again” is not a cultic term or a threat to identity, but a fundamental requirement to see the Kingdom of God, a teaching preserved for centuries within the Armenian Church.

Brother Vahan challenges the congregation to move beyond sectarianism and “isolated cells” of worship.

Action Points:

• Reject Barriers: Stop building walls between different Armenian church communities (e.g., Iranian Christian, St. Sarkis, St. Yeghishe). Recognize that the church belongs to Jesus Christ, not to specific individuals or traditions.
• Practice Unity in Diversity: Accept that while traditions and customs (such as fasting or language) may differ, the Gospel remains the singular, unifying truth.
• Active Engagement: Commit to studying the Word of God, prayer, and nurturing the youth to ensure the progression of the faith.
• Intercessory Prayer: • Pray for “Badveli” Edward’s upcoming surgery and recovery. • Pray for Hike and Natalie as they model a Christian marriage in a challenging modern culture. • Pray for the mission of the Armenian Church to plant new communities across the UK and Europe.

• Վերստին ծննդյան անհրաժեշտությունը. Հղում անելով Հովհաննես 3:3-ին՝ շեշտվում է, որ վերստին ծնվելը ոչ թե աղանդավորություն է, այլ Աստծո արքայությունը տեսնելու հիմնարար պայման, որը դարեր շարունակ ուսուցանվել է Հայ Եկեղեցու կողմից:

Ժողովրդի արձագանքը
Քարոզիչը հորդորում է ժողովրդին դուրս գալ «կղզիացած» վիճակից և միավորվել:

• Վերացնել պատնեշները. Դադարեցնել բաժանումները տարբեր հայկական համայնքների միջև (Իրանահայ, Սուրբ Սարգիս, Սուրբ Եղիշե):
• Միասնություն բազմազանության մեջ. Ընդունել, որ ավանդույթները կարող են տարբերվել, բայց Ավետարանը մնում է մեկ և միակ ճշմարտությունը:
• Աղոթքի ուժը. Աղոթել պատվելի Էդվարդի առողջության, Հայկի և Նաթալիի նորակազմ ընտանիքի և Եվրոպայում հայկական առաքելության տարածման համար:
