Openess to the Lord’s Voice
Brother Babgen shares a message looking at the faithfulness of Samuel and his openness and willingness to be used by the Lord throughout his life. An example and challenge for us in our daily lives.

Message:
The sermon centers on 1 Samuel 3, detailing the call of the young boy Samuel while he was ministering under Eli the priest.
Key Narrative Points:
- Spiritual Silence: In those days, the word of the Lord was rare, and visions were infrequent because of the sin and indifference within Eli’s household.
- The Call: The Lord called Samuel three times. Being unfamiliar with God’s voice, Samuel repeatedly ran to Eli, thinking the elderly priest had called him.
- The Discernment: Eli eventually realized it was the Lord and instructed Samuel to respond: “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.”
- The Judgment: God revealed a heavy message regarding the judgment of Eli’s house because Eli failed to rebuke his sons’ blasphemous and immoral behavior.
- The Result: Samuel grew in favor, and because he listened and obeyed, “none of his words fell to the ground,” establishing him as a prophet from Dan to Beersheba.
Babgen challenges the congregation to move from a state of “spiritual deafness” to intimate familiarity with God’s voice.
Action Points:
- Reject Indifference: Identify and remove “sin in the camp” or indifference that dims the light of Christ in personal and church life.
- Prioritize Intimacy: Dedicate consistent time to fellowship. Just as one forgets a friend’s voice after 15 years of silence, spiritual distance makes God’s voice sound like an “unknown voice.”
- The “Here I Am” Posture: Adopt Samuel’s availability. The preacher emphasizes that God does not look for status (pastor, servant, or ordinary believer) but for holiness and a heart that says, “Here I am, use me.”
- Guard the Tongue: A specific call was made to use speech for holiness rather than gossip or “time-wasting” talk, acknowledging that words have a lasting spiritual impact.
