Eternal Hope
Brother Edward shares a timely message on our Eternal hope in Jesus Christ. The sermon centers on the “Glorious Hope” of the believer, primarily grounded in Titus 2:13 (“waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ”) and 1 Peter 1:3 (the “living hope” through the resurrection of Jesus Christ).
Brother Edward contrasts the futility and “vanity of vanities” described by Solomon with the eternal reality of Christ. He identifies four distinct qualities of this hope:
Happy/Blessed Hope: A joy that exists despite earthly suffering, based on the promise of a prepared place in heaven.
Living Hope: A reality rooted in the historical resurrection, not a “fantasy” or “science fiction.”
Eternal Hope: A treasure that does not rust or fade, unlike worldly positions, wealth, or health.
Comforting Hope: The specific assurance that believers will be reunited with loved ones who have “fallen asleep” in the Lord.

Brother Edward challenges the congregation to shift their focus from the “bridge” (this temporary world) to the “destination” (eternity).
- Reject Worldly Despair: Do not grieve like those who have no hope. While sorrow and tears are natural (as Jesus wept for Lazarus), they should not lead to the hopeless “beating of the breast” seen in the world.
- Invest in the Eternal: Gather “treasures in heaven” rather than obsessing over worldly positions or bank accounts that must eventually be left behind.
- Maintain Perspective: Recognize that the Holy Spirit is merely a “deposit” or “guarantee” of what is to come; do not expect a perfect “heaven on earth” or a “buttered bread” life without suffering.
- Preparation: Live with the constant awareness that “the King of Kings is coming soon” and align daily life with that reality.
