Brother Edward emphasizes that while the Bible uses various metaphors for the church—such as a family or a bride—the “Body” is the most frequently used and detailed illustration by Jesus and the Apostle Paul (specifically in Romans, Corinthians, Ephesians, and Colossians).

Key Theological Points:

• Inherent Value: Every member of the body has a unique purpose and value. Just as an ear cannot claim it is unimportant because it is not an eye, no believer is worthless in Christ’s body.
• Unity vs. Uniformity: Unity does not mean being identical. The preacher uses the example of fingers: they differ in appearance, size, and function, yet they are close, attached, and work together.
• The Headship of Christ: The body is controlled by the head (the brain). For the church to function correctly, Jesus Christ must be the functional head, controlling the speech, behavior, and movements of the members.
• Mutual Dependence: Members are “pain-sharers” (sympathetic). If one part suffers, the whole body feels it; if one rejoices, all rejoice.

Brother Edward challenges the congregation to move beyond being mere “attendees” and to become functional “members.”

• Identify Your Calling: Members are urged to pray and ask, “Lord, who am I in your body? What is my specific function?”
• Stop Comparisons: The congregation is warned against the “negative comparison” and jealousy regarding others’ successes (promotions, possessions, or family achievements).
• Practice Three Pillars of Relationship: To maintain unity despite differences, members must:

Understand each other’s differences.
Respect each other’s opinions and value.
Accept one another as they are.

• Submit to the Head: Evaluate every action by asking, “If Jesus were in my place, would He do this?”
• Report Back: The preacher invites members to come forward and share what they believe the Lord has revealed as their specific calling within the church.
