The Depth of Captivity: Mary was described as being possessed by seven demons, representing a life completely controlled by sin, pride, greed, and social degradation. In the culture of the time, she was a “wretched” woman, disregarded by religious leaders and society.
The Power of Encounter: Jesus met her in this broken state and delivered her. Brother Edward emphasizes that her transformation was not just a removal of demons but a total renewal of her mind, body, and spirit.
The Evidence of Change:
Service and Humility: She transitioned from a “vile person” to a holy servant, using her financial means and energy to support Jesus’ ministry.
Loyalty: Unlike the male disciples who fled during the crucifixion, Mary remained at the foot of the cross and was the first to arrive at the tomb.
Determination: She was not satisfied with the testimony of angels; she sought a personal encounter with the risen Christ, making her the first evangelist of the Resurrection.
Congregation response
Brother Edward challenges the congregation to move beyond hearing stories to becoming “heroes of the story” themselves through active change:
Identify Weaknesses: Members are instructed to create a list of specific personal weaknesses or “points” they wish to change.
Focused Transformation: Rather than tackling everything at once, choose one point from the list and begin working on it through prayer and discipline.
Testimony: Once a change is achieved, members are encouraged to share their testimony with the church to inspire others.
Church Growth: The congregation is asked to pray and brainstorm ways to increase the church’s “quality” and “numbers” this year.
