Spiritual Warfare

Brother Edward shares some practical experiences of Spiritual Warfare and how to pray effectively and victoriously.

The sermon focuses on the strategies Jesus Christ utilized to achieve victory over Satan and how believers can participate in that same triumph. The core message is built upon the following scriptural foundations:

• Genesis 3:15: The first prophecy of the Messiah, declaring that the offspring of the woman would crush the head of the serpent.
• Colossians 2:14-15: Describes Jesus canceling the “written code” against us, nailing it to the cross, and disarming spiritual powers and authorities to make a public spectacle of them.
• Hebrews 2:14-15: Explains that Jesus shared in humanity so that through His death, He might destroy the one who holds the power of death (the devil) and free those held in slavery by the fear of death.
• Luke 10:19: The promise of authority given to believers to trample on “snakes and scorpions” and overcome all the power of the enemy without harm.

The preacher identifies five specific “weapons” or methods of victory:
The Name of Jesus: A name above all others that causes demons to tremble.
The Word of God: Used by Jesus during His temptations (“It is written”) as a double-edged sword.
The Power of the Holy Spirit: The “anointing” that breaks bondages and fills the believer so no “empty space” remains for evil to enter.
The Cross and the Blood: The legal victory where the devil’s accusations were nailed away.
The Resurrection: The manifestation and proof of the victory won on the cross.

Brother Edward challenges the congregation to move from a state of “spiritual relaxation” or “emptiness” to being filled with the Holy Spirit.

• Recognize the Warfare: Acknowledge that spiritual warfare is real and active, even when modern society dismisses it as superstition.
• Fill the Void: Ensure your life is full of the Holy Spirit. The preacher warns that “empty” places in a person’s life are invitations for demonic influence.
• Exercise Authority: Use the name of Jesus and the Word of God in daily prayer to break personal bondages or “curses” affecting families and children.
• Outreach in London: The congregation is called to identify those in the city who are “captives” to evil spirits and to approach them through a regimen of fasting and prayer to declare their freedom.
