Lord’s visitation

Brother Edward Hovsepian Mehr shares on different ways the Lord visit us.

The sermon centers on the concept of the “Lord’s Visitation”—the ongoing, present-day interaction between God and the believer. Michael (Brother Edward) emphasizes that God is not finished with His creation in us.

• John 17:26: Jesus prays that He has declared the Father’s name and will continue to declare it, indicating an unfinished, ongoing work.
• Acts 26:16: Jesus appears to Paul not just for what he has seen, but for the things Christ will yet reveal to him.
• Amos 4:12: The command to “prepare to meet your God,” establishing the necessity of readiness.
• John 14:21: The promise that Christ will manifest Himself specifically to those who love Him and keep His commandments.
• 1 John 1:1-3: The testimony of a physical, sensory experience with the Word of Life—hearing, seeing, and touching—which leads to true fellowship.

Brother Edward challenges the congregation to move beyond “living in the past” (relying on spiritual experiences from decades ago) and to seek a fresh, radical encounter with God today.

Three Conditions for Visitation:
Preparation: Just as one prepares to meet a Queen or high official, one must spiritually prepare to meet the King of Kings.
Thirst: God invites the thirsty. Brother Edward uses the analogy of a man held underwater who realizes his only true need is oxygen; we must desire God with that same desperation.
Obedience: God manifests to those who keep His commands. If we have no intention of obeying, He may remain silent out of mercy to avoid increasing our judgment.

Next Steps:

• Commit to Personal Time: Brother Edward shares his own plan to clear his schedule for a week of isolation with God; he encourages the congregation to similarly “pay the price” of time.
• Seek Radical Change: Aim for a “true repentance” that goes deeper than initial conversion, affecting the “inner man” and root behaviors.
• Become Effective Witnesses: The goal of visitation is to become witnesses of what has been seen and heard, so that others recognize the presence of God on the believer’s face without a word being spoken.
