Joseph

Chris Ragg shares a message on Joseph’s life:

Worship:

 Message:

The sermon draws from several key passages to illustrate God’s sovereignty and the principle of spiritual sowing:

  • Genesis 45:7-8 & 50:20: The story of Joseph. Despite betrayal, slavery, and imprisonment, Joseph recognized that while others “meant evil,” God “meant it for good” to preserve lives.
  • Matthew 13:24-30, 37-39: The Parable of the Wheat and the Tares. Jesus explains that the Son of Man sows good seed (sons of the Kingdom) in the world, while the Devil sows tares (sons of the wicked one). Both grow together until the harvest.
  • Matthew 13:3-9: The Parable of the Sower. The sower casts seed liberally on the wayside, stony ground, and among thorns, as well as on good ground. The preacher emphasizes that we should not judge the “soil” but sow the Word everywhere.
  • Galatians 6:7-9: The law of the harvest. “Whatever a man sows, he will also reap.” The preacher encourages the congregation not to grow weary in doing good, promising a reap in “due season.”
  • John 4:35 & Matthew 9:37: The harvest is plentiful and “white,” but the laborers are few.

Chris challenges the congregation to shift from a pessimistic “half-empty” perspective to a “half-full” faith-based outlook.

  • Active Engagement: Stop being mere observers of the world’s evil; become active participants in the spiritual battle by sowing good seeds.
  • Liberal Sowing: Share the Gospel (the Word) with everyone, including those who seem “unwilling” or unlikely to respond, such as atheists or those of other faiths.
  • Persistence in Prayer: Continue to “sow in prayer” for nations like Egypt and Iran, believing that God is working behind the scenes of political unrest.
  • Financial Stewardship: Sow into “Kingdom causes” that expand God’s work rather than worldly or evil things.
  • Faith in the Result: Trust that even if results are not seen immediately or in this lifetime, a harvest is guaranteed by God’s word.
