The sermon focuses on the Fruit of the Spirit, specifically the first and foundational fruit: Love. Brother Edward draws from several key passages to define the nature and supremacy of love:

• Galatians 5:22-23: Establishes the ninefold fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control).
• Colossians 3:14: Describes love as the “bond of perfection” or the “belt” that holds all other virtues together. Without this belt, one’s spiritual “garment” falls away, leaving them exposed.
• 1 Corinthians 13: Asserts that even with the tongues of angels, all knowledge, and faith to move mountains, a person is “nothing” without love. Love is greater than faith and hope.
• Ephesians 3:19: States that the love of Christ surpasses all knowledge. While human knowledge can reach the moon, it cannot reach the human heart; only Christ’s love can bridge the distance between people.
• Romans 13:10: Declares that “love is the fulfillment of the law.” Legalism and rules may force outward compliance (like a child standing in a corner while “sitting” in their heart), but love creates instinctive, heartfelt obedience.
• Song of Songs 2:4 & 8:6-7: Identifies love as an “emblem” or “banner” (a sign of identity and authority) and describes it as “strong as death,” an invincible force that many waters cannot quench.

Brother Edward challenges the congregation to move beyond theoretical knowledge and performative religion to practical, sacrificial love.

• Identify the “Flag”: Evaluate whether your life flies the flag of love. If bitterness or harshness is present, the flag has been lowered, and others will be driven away from the Gospel.
• Surrender to the “Sun”: Stop trying to change others through the “storm” of arguments, logic, or physical strength. Instead, use the “warmth” of love to lead others to naturally surrender their hearts to God.
• Practical Forgiveness: The congregation is urged to identify specific individuals they have struggled to love or forgive. The challenge is to serve them, pray for them, and show kindness repeatedly, even in the face of mockery.
• Action Point: Practice “Love in Deed.” Do not just love with words, but through tangible actions and a sweetness of spirit that captivates others for Christ.
