• Genesis: The first sacrifice in Eden where God clothed Adam and Eve in animal skins, teaching that the innocent must die for the guilty.
• Exodus: The Passover lamb whose blood protected the Israelites from the angel of death.
• Abraham and Isaac: A symbolic foreshadowing of God sacrificing His own Son, though Isaac was spared because his death would have been “meaningless” compared to Christ’s perfect sacrifice.

Congregation response

• Accept the Free Gift: Recognize that salvation cannot be earned through “good works” or man-made standards (like recycling or social reputation). It is a 100% paid-for gift by Christ.
• Duty to Others: While church attendance doesn’t “save” you, believers have a God-given duty to help those whose names are not yet in the Book of Life.
• Live by God’s Standards: Reject societal definitions of “good” and “bad,” which change like the wind, and adhere to God’s universal, holy standards.
• Forgive Others: Forgiveness is for the benefit of the forgiver; holding onto anger is a daily self-punishment.
• Share the Gospel: The preacher challenged the congregation to share the “Good News” with the same urgency and excitement one would have if they knew the winning lottery numbers.
