Let not your heart be troubled

John 14:1 – Let not your heart be troubled.

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.”

John 14:1

People are comforted by these words. Jesus sleeping on the boat in the storm. Disciples try waking him up. Do you not care that we are perishing, peace be still. Let not your heart be troubled, peace be still.

Looking at this passage in the old testament where Jehoshaphat was facing the idol worshippers.

2 Chronicles 20:1-40

Jehhoshapat was the suppressor of idol worshippers.
Vast army was going to attack from all sides.
He was feeling under pressure

Our God, will you not judge them? For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.

2 Chron 20:12

Let not your heart be troubled in this world we will have challenges circumstances. As human we can get overwhelmed with our circumstances.

  • We get anxious, we worry, get a job or keep a job.
  • Will I have a roof over my head will I fill my family.
  • Will I go on holiday this year.
  • Worry about our health
  • Will I get the virus.
  • What about the vaccine is it safe?
  • What side effects might it give?

I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the LORD,
the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip—
he who watches over you will not slumber;
indeed, he who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.
The LORD watches over you—
the LORD is your shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.
The LORD will keep you from all harm —
he will watch over your life;
the LORD will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.

Psalm 121

Into your hands I commit my spirit;
deliver me, LORD, my faithful God.

Ps 31:5

God will preserve my soul

You have not given me into the hands of the enemy
but have set my feet in a spacious place.

Psalm 31:8

God looks after our going out and coming in. Jesus is bigger than Covid19. Jehoshaphat is looking up to the Lord even when a great army was it his door. Be assured in God’s promises, He is the shepherd of our lives.

Remember the story of Moses and how he delivered the Israelites from Pharoah. The sea was in front and the pharaoh behind. Exo 14:13 The Lord made a way for them.

Peace be still

If you are feeling low and disappointed look up and hear His voice. Peace be still, I will be with you.
Let not your heart be troubled.

Jesus fought the battle for your salvation.

if you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Rom 10:9
